MANILA, Philippines – The new majority senators re-elected as Senate secretary on Wednesday Renato “Rey” Bantug Jr., while Police Maj. Gen. Alfred Sotto Corpus replaced Ma O. Aplasca as the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms. Replacing Jose Luis Montales, Bantug previously served as the Senate Secretary from 2022 until early 2026, and was even honored through a Senate resolution before his initial retirement. He first entered the Senate as a staff to former Sen. Franklin Drilon in 1995, then he eventually became the latter’s Chief of Staff in the 16th Congress.
