Bukidnon farmers prepare for dry spell

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — Farmers in Bukidnon are preparing for the possible effects of the expected El Niño as the state weather bureau warned of a high chance of below-normal rainfall from June to August this year that may continue until early 2027. Corn farmer Abi Gillaco said farmers are concerned that extreme heat may damage crops and reduce harvests. “If the heat becomes intense, crops will not grow properly,” Gillaco said.
