MANILA, Philippines — The new legal team of former President Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court (ICC) has sought a new round of medical assessment on the condition of the detained ex-leader ahead of his trial. The fresh request for a medical examination comes five months after a court-appointed panel of experts found him fit to fully participate in the proceedings. It also follows a recent finding by the ICC Registry, the tribunal’s administrative arm, that episodes of Duterte reportedly losing his balance are still considered “rare” and common for his age.
