TACLOBAN CITY- The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) reported on Monday a significant reduction in crime across Eastern Visayas, citing a 57.52 percent drop in the regionโs eight focus crimes following the intensified rollout of the Safer Cities Initiative (SCI). The SCI, which began full implementation on April 6, is a coordinated law enforcement strategy aligned with the directives of the Philippine National Police and the Department of the Interior and Local Government, focusing on increased police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and strengthened inter-agency cooperation in identified crime-prone areas.
