MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Community education campaigns and a more intense fire prevention program have helped Mandaue City bring down the number of fires this year, officials said. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recorded 22 fires so far this year, compared to 25 in the same period in 2025, or a 12 percent decrease. More than half of the recorded fires involved residential structures.
