MANILA, Philippines – Several former and incumbent government officials as well as church and civil society leaders have initiated a signature campaign calling for the “restoration of the integrity and credibility” of the Senate. In a public statement, the signatories said they also support the consensus of the 11-member Senate minority bloc in nominating Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian as the right leader for the upper chamber. “His temperament and track record make him well-suited to preside over the Senate where fairness, not faction, must prevail,” they stressed.
