MANILA, Philippines — Senator-judges should be physically present during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, particularly during voting, because the gravity of the proceedings requires full attention and direct observation of witnesses. House Committee on Higher and Technical Education chair Jude Acidre made the statement as senators debated a proposal allowing remote participation in Senate proceedings.
