MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will receive high-level imperial honors from Emperor Naruhito during their state visit to Japan. In a statement before leaving for Japan on Tuesday, Marcos said they would be received by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako in a formal audience, where both sides will exchange some of their countries’ highest civilian decorations. According to Marcos, Emperor Naruhito will confer on him the Grand Cordon of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum, Japan’s highest order, which is rarely conferred on anyone outside the Imperial family and foreign heads of state.
