MANILA, Philippines โ The Philippines on Wednesday lost its bid for a nonpermanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027โ2028 term after Kyrgyzstan secured the Asia-Pacific seat in the General Assembly vote, according to the United Nations. The Philippines received 49 votes out of 191 ballots cast in the fourth round of voting, while Kyrgyzstan obtained 142 votes, surpassing the required two-thirds majority to secure the Asia-Pacific seat.
