MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) has pledged to protect the families of the missing sabungeros, or cockfighting enthusiasts, amid allegations that they are being pressured to withdraw from court proceedings. In a statement on Sunday, PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the police will not disregard claims that some relatives were allegedly urged to skip court hearings.
