LUCENA CITY, Quezon โ Taal Volcano in Batangas doubled its sulfur dioxide emission on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Thursday. In its latest 24-hour monitoring, Phivolcs said the volcano emitted 6,287 tons of sulfur dioxide on Wednesday, nearly double the average daily emission of 3,234 tons recorded from May 29 to June 2. The volcano also generated plumes reaching as high as 1,200 meters that drifted northeast. Phivolcs classified the activity as a โmoderate emissionโ event.
